Most manufacturers place a pre-slotted corian (fancy word for counter top material) or plastic nut in your guitar. It is cheaper to use a one size fits all, drop in nut. Just upgrading this one important piece makes a significant difference in the sound your guitar produces.
We start from a blank of bleached cow bone. Or you can get even fancier & opt for buffalo, mammoth, or horn material. Horn is a great option for when you want a unique black nut.
